BRANDING PROJECT
Dzignerd – A Logo Rooted in Algerian Light
Brief: Design an identity for a modern interior studio that whispers heritage but shouts innovation.
Process – A Designer’s Reflection:
I started by burying myself in the geometric poetry of Islamic and Moorish architecture. Late nights in architectural archives, tracing the evolution of Algerian window arches – those rhythmic, repeating curves that frame sunlight like a sacred art. I noticed how these shapes weren’t just functional; they were metaphors for openness, guiding light inward while guarding intimacy.
Then came the stars. Everywhere – in mosaics, metalwork, prayer spaces – the Rub-el-Hizb stared back, an eight-pointed compass balancing math and mysticism. I sketched it raw, then stripped it to its bones: What if this ancient symbol could feel modern? I chiseled its angles, softening intersections just enough to keep its soul intact but let it breathe in a minimalist world.
But something was missing – the warmth of Algeria’s sunlight. I obsessed over how light spills through latticework, casting dynamic shadows. So I painted gradients behind the star, not as a flat glow, but as layered rays, mimicking how light dances through a Marrakech riad at noon. Gold, but not gaudy. Bright, but gentle. A quiet conversation between past and present.
Finally, I framed it all within those iconic arches, stacking them like a portal. A nod to Moorish craftsmanship, yes, but also a literal window – inviting viewers to peek into Dzignerd’s philosophy: spaces where history and future share the same room.

Outcome: A logo that bridges Algeria’s artistic legacy with forward-thinking design. The arches and star honor heritage, while sunlight gradients and minimalism reflect Dzignerd’s innovative approach to light-filled interiors.
